CtrlS unveils new Datacenter park in Chennai, to generate 9k jobs
CtrlS Datacenters has unveiled its newest datacenter park in Chennai, marking its fifth hyperscale DC campus in India. Following locations in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bangalore, the company is set to invest ₹4,000 crore in the Chennai Datacenter Park.
Expected to generate 500 direct jobs and over 9,000 indirect opportunities, the park will be situated in the Ambattur industrial area. It will comprise two datacenter buildings spanning almost 1 million square feet, with a combined IT load capacity of 72 MW.
The first building, Chennai DC 1, is already fully booked and is scheduled to commence operations in Q2 2024. Meanwhile, bookings are open for the second building, Chennai DC 2, which is a Ground + 10 floor structure boasting a 27 MW IT load capacity, the company said.
Notable features of the CtrlS Chennai DC Campus include a 230 kV on-campus gas-insulated substation (GIS), AI-Ready advanced cooling technologies, and 9-layer physical security.
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder & CEO, CtrlS Datacenters, said, "We are delighted to unveil our upcoming Chennai DC Park. Chennai is the second largest datacenter market in India and holds strategic significance because of the presence of large number of subsea cable landing stations, coupled with the growing presence of enterprises and cloud service providers in the region.”
He further stated, “With the government's ambitious plans for knowledge-based industries and the resulting surge in digital transformation, CtrlS Datacenters is proud to contribute to Chennai's dynamic digital landscape with its upcoming state-of-the-art datacenter campus. We thank the Tamil Nadu government for extending all the necessary support and creating a conducive environment for setting up of our datacenters."
In December last year, CtrlS inaugurated a data center in GIFT City, Gujarat, with plans to invest over ₹250 crore and create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in phases. The company aims to triple its number of data centers from eight to about 25 by 2024-25, expanding its footprint by an additional 5 million square feet from the current 1.2 million square feet space.
