HFCL Limited (HFCL), a technology enterprise and integrated communications product and solution provider, has secured a purchase order worth ₹141 crore for the supply of indigenously designed and manufactured unlicensed band radios (UBRs) that are used to control or maintain heavy network usage in small areas, and other associated services to Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL).
 
This order is part of the advance purchase order worth ₹179 crore issued by BSNL to the company. The remaining order of ₹38 crore is expected to be released upon completion of supply against the current purchase order.
 
The scope of work under this purchase order includes initial planning, on-site surveys, and the supply of telecom equipment, installation, testing, operations, and annual maintenance, among other services.
 
Through this win, the company will provide products and services crucial to supporting BSNL's 4G network. This network upgrade aims to offer the latest technology in cost-effective backhauling solutions for BSNL's 4G network and lay the foundation for 5G capabilities.
 
Mahendra Nahata, managing director of HFCL, said the order cements HFCL's position as a leader in indigenous 4G and 5G technology solutions.
 
"With a strategic Make in India approach, our cutting-edge 4G and 5G backhauling solution emphasizes capturing opportunities in global markets while aligning with the India Stack initiative. The deployment of these advanced solutions promises higher data transfer rates, low latency, and enhanced reliability and performance," he added
 
According to a recent industry reports, the global mobile and wireless backhauling market, valued at $9.3 billion in 2020, is projected to reach $15.5 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8% during the forecast period.
 
"With its focus on innovation and strong customer relationships, HFCL is well positioned to take advantage of these emerging opportunities worldwide," the company said in a statement.
 
HFCL is a technology enterprise with operations in the manufacturing of high-end telecom equipment, optical fiber, optical fiber cables, and communication network solutions for telcos, defense, and railways. In January, the company secured an order valued at ₹1,127 crore from BSNL to transform the Optical Transport Network (OTN) infrastructure across the telco’s Pan India network.
 
The company also introduced its indigenously designed and developed 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) solution.
 
In Q3 FY24, the company's consolidated net profit declined by 14.45% to ₹82.24 crore on a 4.93% fall in net sales to ₹1,032.31 crore compared to Q3 FY23.
