Flash.co appoints former Practo exec as CPTO
Bengaluru-headquartered Flash.co has appointed Amit Verma as the chief product and technology officer (CPTO). The Blume Ventures and Global Founders Capital backed company now gears up for its growth in India and further expansion to global markets, starting with the US.
To be sure, Flash.co offers AI-based solutions for improving online shopping experience by providing services such as shopping tracking, AI powered spam free inbox, in-depth spend analytics, and personalised lifestyle rewards. It is less than a year old company with over 600,000 users, tracking over 12 million orders across 2200+ brands, the company said in a statement.
A alum of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Verma is the former chief technology officer of Practo. He has also worked and led teams at companies like Big Basket, Ola, Oracle, and Yahoo. His appointment at Flash.co is a significant step towards the company's goal of transforming the shopping experience for the top 250 million shoppers worldwide, the company said.
“I am really excited to join the Flash.co team, drawn by the problem statements being solved & their global aspirations. My immediate focus would be to re-architect the existing systems for stability and scalability required for global expansion. I would focus on nurturing the culture of customer centricity, speed & innovation, creating next generation products for both customers and brands,” said Verma.
In a related news, last week, ecommerce giant Amazon launched a generative artificial intelligence-based shopping assistant called Rufus. It is trained on product catalog and information from across the web to answer customer questions on shopping needs, products, and comparisons, make recommendations based on this context, and facilitate product discovery.
