Infosys uses AI to bring immersive experience at Australian Open 2024
India’s second largest IT services and consulting major Infosys, on Wednesday, said that it is furthering its artificial intelligence (AI) influence at the 2024 Australian Open (AO), as part of its ongoing partnership with Tennis Australia.
Through the use of generative AI technologies, Infosys is aiming to enhance fan engagement, optimize player performance, and facilitate digital content creation, the company said in an exchange filing.
To achieve this, Infosys will utilize its AI-centric range of services and solutions, specifically Infosys Topaz, to enhance the AO experience. Topaz will provide LLMs and cognitive cores to enhance Tennis Australia's AI journey, it added.
To enhance the Australian Grand Slam experience, the IT major will offer various services. One such service is the AO 2024 Bracket Challenge versus AI, where fans can challenge AI in predicting tournament outcomes and daily match winners on the Australian Open website.
Additionally, the Infosys Match Centre will provide fans with contextual insights through the Key Stats feature, AI Match Bytes that create visual match story cards using Gen AI, and Win Predictor monitors that display victory probabilities throughout the match.
Furthermore, there will be a Fan Zone where generative AI-powered graffiti portraits, powered by Topaz, will be available. Tennis fans will also have the opportunity to experience AR selfies and play VR matches. In addition to these initiatives, Infosys and AO will utilize digital skilling platforms to cultivate future leaders in Australia.
Infosys has been actively investing in AI-powered solutions for tennis fans over the years. Through collaborations with global tennis bodies, particularly in Australia, the company has expanded its customer portfolio. The company is leveraging Infosys Topaz to bring a host of AI-first experiences to serve players, fans, and the media, and shape the future of the game, informed Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President Asia Pacific, Infosys.
Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, and Australian Open Tournament Director, said, “For the past six years, Infosys has helped Tennis Australia to raise the bar and serve up new experiences for fans using digital technologies. AI is enabling new dimensions of interactivity for fans and insight for players, not to mention the speed and scale it brings to our content delivery.”
Last year, Infosys signed Rafael Nadal as its brand ambassador, solidifying a three-year partnership. This collaboration between Infosys and Nadal, according to the company, would result in the development of an AI-powered match analysis tool.
