Spotlight: CXO movements this week (Jan 6 — Jan 12)
The week (January 6-12) was buzzing with several CXO movements in the tech industry with some of the major appointments in key business positions. Technology firms like SAP, Accenture, Snowflake, Experian and Decimal Point Analytics, among others made important new appointments in India. Movements also happened in stockbroker firm Angel One Limited. Here’s the roundup:
Infosys’ Binny Mathews joins Accenture as chief procurement officer
Technology consulting firm Accenture has appointed Binny Mathews as its new Chief Procurement Officer and Head of the Procurement Plus (P+) Capability. Mathews, who was with Infosys for over 15 years and was a senior vice president and group head of procurement before joining Accenture, joins the list of senior executives leaving Infosys since last year. Before joining Infosys, Mathews held leadership positions at Marico, mjunction services limited (a joint venture between SAIL and TATA Steel), FreeMarkets (now SAP Ariba), and Marico, where he developed innovative and data-driven approaches to sustainable procurement. He has also served on the board of Infosys Portland and is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) MBA program at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur. SAP India MD Kulmeet Bawa elevated to global role
SAP India’s managing director, Kulmeet Bawa, has been elevated to the post of chief revenue officer for the business technology platform (SAP BTP). Bawa was the president and MD at SAP India for more than three and a half years, and will continue to serve through February. During this time, Bawa’s replacement would also be announced. In this new global role, Bawa will drive the growth and adoption of SAP BTP across the globe, which includes practices related to artificial intelligence, data and analytics, automation, and integration. An alum of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Business School, Bawa has been associated with the Indian Army and companies like Microsoft and Adobe. He is currently also the chairman of IT/ITeS council at Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). (Read more)
Snowflake appoints Vijayant Rai as Managing Director for India
Data Cloud company Snowflake has announced the appointment of Vijayant Rai as its new Managing Director for India. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving business growth and the Go-To-Market strategy for Snowflake in the country. Rai takes over from Vimal Venkatram, who has moved to a regional role in Singapore. Rai brings over 27 years of extensive experience in senior sales positions across leading companies. Prior to joining Snowflake, Rai served as the Executive Director for Microsoft India, where he was the Country Leader for the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industry segment. His leadership experience also includes roles at Salesforce, SAP, and CA Technologies. (Read more)
Manish Jain appointed as Experian India’s country MD
London-based information services company Experian has appointed Manish Jain as the new country managing director for Experian India. In this role, Jain will lead Experian’s operations in the evolving Indian market. He will lead the company’s strategic initiatives, drive business growth, and forge partnerships with clients and stakeholders. A seasoned professional with a career spanning over two and a half decades in banking and credit information, stock market solutions, and large manufacturing industries, Jain is also the former co-founder and chief executive officer of Excelrate, a strategy execution company that offers advisor and tech platforms for banking and financial services companies (BFSI). Before Excelrate, he worked with companies such as TransUnion, 3i Infotech, Indosoft International, and ACC Limited. (Read more)
Lenovo appoints former Intel exec as SVP of intelligent device group
Lenovo has appointed Steve Long as the new senior vice president of Intelligent Devices Group (IDG), effective from February 26. Long is replacing Marco Andresen, who will now continue his position as the chief operating officer for IDG. Long will relocate his base from Singapore to Raleigh, North Carolina and will report to Lenovo IDG President, Luca Rossi. In this role, Long will oversee IDG’s end-to-end commercial business, including strategy and profit and loss responsibilities. His team will collaborate across global markets for product strategies and roadmaps. He will also work in areas of original equipment manufacturing (OEM), education, and cybersecurity. The news of Long’s appointment at Lenovo comes just a day after he announced his exit from Intel as the corporate vice president and general manager for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ), where he served for 24 years. Angel One appoints Anuprita Daga as Group CISO
Angel One Limited, formerly known as Angel Broking Limited — an Indian stockbroker firm announced the appointment of Anuprita Daga as its Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Daga previously served as the CISO at Yes Bank, and brings over 25 years of expertise in security transformation and strategies in the banking and finance sector. In her new capacity, Daga will elevate the information security, cyber security, and data privacy framework at Angel One. Her primary focus will be on advancing, implementing, and enforcing stringent security policies to protect sensitive customer information and confidential data throughout the organisation. Gautam Naidu joins Decimal Point Analytics as chief revenue officer
Decimal Point Analytics, a provider of data analytics, AI, and market research solutions, has appointed Gautam Naidu as its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). With over 25 years of experience in technology and business development, Naidu is set to lead revenue generation strategies, drive business development initiatives, and contribute significantly to the company's growth trajectory. Before joining Decimal Point Analytics, he served as the Senior Vice President of Business Development at Talentica Software. His extensive career spans roles at renowned companies such as Talentica Software, IBM, CCR Technology, and Schlumberger. Naidu holds post-graduate and undergraduate degrees from esteemed institutions, including the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM A) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT B).
