Mercedes-Benz, IISc collaborate for innovation in sustainable mobility
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has teamed up with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to supercharge research in eco-friendly mobility. The partnership, laid out in a memorandum of understanding (MoU), is a big step towards Mercedes-Benz's goal of making all their new vehicles carbon-neutral by 2039.
The collaboration aims to tackle global issues locally by working together on research, nurturing talent, and promoting innovative solutions for sustainable mobility. The focus will be on transforming engineering practices and diving into long-term research projects. Both organizations will bring their strengths to the table, sharing resources and expertise.
Manu Saale, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, stressed the importance of bridging the gap between industry and academia in the electric vehicle revolution. He said, "Working closely with the Indian Institute of Science opens up exciting possibilities to showcase top-notch Indian engineering research globally."
Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISc, highlighted the potential impact on sustainable mobility, stating, "This partnership strengthens our commitment to collaborations that can make a significant impact in the years to come."
The Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) will manage IISc's interactions with industry, making sure the collaboration runs smoothly. The two-year agreement covers sharing information, teaching materials, and exploring joint funding opportunities for research projects.
