Sweden-based industrial robot accessories company to set up India subsidiary
Industrial robot accessories company Robot System Products (RSP) has announced plans to set up a subsidiary in India. The Indian entity Scandinavian Robot Systems India Private Limited has been registered in Chennai and will supply a range of industrial robot accessories to Indian customers. At present, the accessories will be imported from Sweden, and by next year, the company plans to manufacture at least two products from India.
A spinoff company of automation firm ABB Ltd, with its Indian subsidiary, RSP wants to tap into the growing robotics and industrial automation sector in the country and reinforce its position as a critical player in robotics and automation, the company said in a statement.
“Indian Industry is set to ramp up productivity in Automotive Electric Vehicle programs, electronics, and several other manufacturing applications. With India’s ambitious goal to be a manufacturing hub for the world and capitalize on the “Make in India” policy, RSP is well positioned to provide the local industry the reliable, quality, and flexible manufacturing solutions to automate and to achieve their goals,” said Arvind Vasu, Managing Director of RSP’s subsidiary company in India.
“We have been watching the developments in India and believe that now is a great time for RSP to enter. With almost 5500 robots installed in 2022 in Indian manufacturing facilities, the growth of robotics in Indian industry is very encouraging” says Eddie Eriksson, President, and CEO of Robot System Products AB.
As per a September 2022 report by market research firm IDC and automation company UiPath, Robotic process automation (RPA) is already underway in India and is very subtly but quickly changing the way businesses function. The new study revealed that 84% of Indian organisations will scale up their RPA initiatives or achieve an enterprise-wide RPA deployment by 2025.
