Honeywell launches automation software for medical product quality reviewing
Global technology company Honeywell has launched Product Quality Review, an automation software solution for medical product manufacturers. The solution will automate and streamline the regulatory-mandated analysis process of medical products, also called the Annual Product Quality Review (APQR) process.
Global regulatory guidelines mandate pharmaceutical companies to review and assess the quality of their medical products annually. Inefficient APQR programs can result in a time-consuming process of collecting the data from multiple systems and sites and then conducting a manual review, analysis and approval, months after initiating data collection. In worst cases, it can potentially present unnecessary risks to patients and regulatory actions.
Product Quality Review automates data collection from various systems of record – thereby saving time, improving data integrity, and replacing paper-based processes. The product is part of Honeywell’s series of applications in the company’s Life Sciences Applications Suite.
“APQR shouldn’t be a burdensome effort – so we are pleased to provide a solution that simplifies the process and empowers medical product manufacturers to not only meet their regulatory requirements but also turn a traditionally retrospective analysis into a timelier decision support tool,” said Dr. Oxana Pickeral, vice president and GM, Connected Life Sciences & Logistics, Honeywell Connected Enterprise. “This allows customers to focus on insights over process and deliver high-quality products more quickly to market and the patients they serve.”
Last week, Honeywell launched an infrared-based FS24X Plus Flame Detector to detect hydrogen flames and stop them from growing into major fires. It will protect workers and facilities from risks associated with hydrogen production and use. Honeywell’s FS24X Plus can detect flames in even rainy, foggy, or smoky conditions.
Further, ex-Microsoft executive Anant Maheshwari, took over the reins as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Honeywell's high-growth region portfolio. Maheshwari assumed his new role on September 4 and succeeded Ben Driggs, who moved to another leadership position within the company.
