Global technology company IBM is partnering with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Skill Development Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to offer courses in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and other professional development skills. The three entities have signed multiple memoranda of understanding to co-create curriculum and offer access to the IBM SkillBuild platform for accessing the courses.

This partnership will cover three core levels of education. For school-level education, high school students, teachers, and trainers will get access to digital content from IBM SkillsBuild. IBM will also refresh the Central Board of Secondary Education’s AI curriculum for Classes 11 and 12, and develop a cyber skilling and blockchain curriculum. For older students, IBM will wor with the higher education department, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), National Institute of Electronics, and others to offer skills enabling technical careers. Lastly, IBM, along with various skilling departments will train job seekers, long-term unemployed, and school dropouts on vocational skills to re-enter the workforce.

“IBM’s collaboration with MoE and MSDE ushers in a new era of opportunities in our rapidly evolving digital landscape. We aim to empower India’s youth with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the digital age, encompassing cutting-edge technologies like AI and cloud computing. Simultaneously, we’re dedicated to fostering a well-rounded approach to skill development, ultimately creating a more versatile and adaptable workforce,” said Sandip Patel, managing director, IBM India/South Asia.
