Infosys, Microsoft partner to develop generative AI-based solutions
IT services company Infosys today announced a collaboration with Microsoft to jointly develop solutions leveraging artificial intelligence (AI)-based capabilities. Through this collaboration, Infosys Topaz will Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Sciences to augment its capabilities. The integrated solutions will boost customers’ operational efficiency, decrease turn-around-time, future-proof investments, and open new business models, the company said in a statement.
To be sure, Topaz IS an AI-first suite of services that combines data analytics, cloud and generative AI technologies to create value for clients. At the time of its launch, Infosys said that it had used its own applied AI framework to develop an AI-first core that potentially has over 12,000 use cases, more than 150 pre-trained models, and over ten platforms.
“We’re pleased to expand our collaboration with Infosys to deliver innovative solutions, utilizing Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Services, that will help customers develop new business models, and realize new revenue streams. By harnessing the power of generative AI, Infosys will help customers accelerate growth and innovation,” said Nicole Dezen, chief partner officer, Microsoft Corp.
Last week, Infosys announced an AI partnership with Nvidia. As part of the partnership, Nvidia will offer its artificial intelligence (AI) models, tools, applications and compute infrastructure to Infosys, which in turn will train 50,000 of its over 3.36 lakh employees on Nvidia’s AI stack—through a dedicated centre of excellence (CoE). Nandan Nilekani, co-founder and chairman of Infosys, said that the company is “transforming into an AI-first company to better provide AI-based services to our clients worldwide.”
Commenting on Infosys’ AI-first strategy, chief technology officer Mohammed Rafee Tarafdar had said in an earlier interview with TechCircle, “We have been working on AI for some time with a lot of our initial investments in technologies like machine learning and deep learning. So while a lot of work or the building blocks for AI were already in place, last year we saw the potential of the foundational models. The AI-first strategy simply means that we are reimagining everything that we do from a business standpoint.”
