Cybersecurity firm Veeam Software has appointed Beni Sia as the new general manager and senior vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). In this role, Sia would be responsible for the company’s business operations and growth strategy across the region. 

"Beni is an accomplished business leader who, over the past three years, has demonstrated his ability to build and lead high-performing teams while delivering outstanding customer outcomes," said John Jester, Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at Veeam. “His appointment is a great testament to our commitment at Veeam to develop and recognize great talent across the company. I’m excited to support him as he leads our continued growth and momentum across the APJ region with customers, partners and alliances.” 

Sia is an IT industry veteran with an experience of over 20 years. He has worked with customers and partners across the APJ region. In his last role, Sia was the vice president of Southeast Asia and Korea at Veeam, and led growth and expansion in 12 markets. He has also worked at companies like Broadcom, Brocade, Juniper Networks, and Datacraft. An alumnus of the University of Toronto, Sia is also currently serving as an independent director for Smoove Xperience.

A data protection and ransomware recovery services provider, Veeam led the $21 million Series A funding round for Alcion. Alcion offers artificial intelligence-based protection for Microsoft 365 and competes with Veeam in areas of data backup and disaster recovery. Other participants in the funding round include Lip-Bu Tan, chairman of Walden International and Intel board member; Debanjan Saha from DataRobot; Abhinav Asthana, founder of Postman, among others.
