OpenAI announces ChatGPT Enterprise for large businesses
OpenAI has released the ChatGPT Enterprise, targeted for large businesses, strengthening the synergy between OpenAI and its financial supporter, Microsoft.
ChatGPT Enterprise focuses on security, privacy, and swift access to OpenAI’s technology. The early adoption phase has seen prominent companies like Block, Carlyle, and Estee Lauder Companies already benefiting from this initiative.
In a blog post on August 28, OpenAI emphasized that businesses adopting ChatGPT Enterprise will have full authority over their data without requiring special training for business-related discussions. All interactions are secured through encryption, following the widely recognised System and Organisation Controls (SOC) 2 standard, aligned with Certified Public Accountants (CPA) privacy guidelines.
Moreover, ChatGPT Enterprise ensures encrypted conversations during transmission using TLS 1.2+ and during storage with AES-256 encryption. The newly introduced admin console empowers users to efficiently manage team members by utilising domain verification, Single Sign-on (SSO), and usage reporting.
OpenAI is also enhancing response times for ChatGPT Enterprise, with performance improvements leading to responses twice as fast as before. The system can now handle longer inputs and files, accommodating up to 32,000 tokens, enabling larger and more comprehensive queries. Usage limits have been removed, and the model employed is the latest advanced language model, GPT-4.
This Enterprise version provides unrestricted access to advanced data tools, along with the inclusion of shareable chat templates designed to streamline common workflows. Within just nine months, ChatGPT has achieved remarkable adoption, with over 80% of Fortune 500 companies incorporating its capabilities, the company said. The new Enterprise edition intends to meet the growing demand for a secure and efficient AI assistant in the workplace, with a focus on driving profitability.
OpenAI initially launched ChatGPT for consumers in November, triggering a surge in AI utilisation for everyday tasks. Within a short span, by January, it amassed an impressive user base of 100 million individuals. Microsoft, in partnership with OpenAI, also offers business access to ChatGPT via Azure OpenAI Service. Notably, ChatGPT Enterprise users are not required to have an Azure subscription.
It's worth noting that OpenAI and Microsoft have presented similar services in the past, prompting discussions about market dynamics and customer preferences.
