Falcon Autotech automates DTDC's Chennai parcel sorting facility

Falcon Autotech, a company specialising in intralogistics automation solutions, has announced a partnership with DTDC Express to automate the parcel-sorting operations at DTDC's 1.7 million sq. ft. super hub in Chennai. 

Using Falcon Autotech’s cross-belt sorter technology, Falcon designed a parcel sorting system for DTDC that can handle 9,000 parcels per hour and operates 24/7. The system is also scalable to accommodate future growth. 

According to the company, the new linear cross-belt solution employs advanced technology to automate key sorting processes in DTDC's warehouse, such as parcel profiling and sorting. This solution is aimed at optimising space requirements for sorting operations, enhancing efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

“The new sorting system at hubs will be able to create unique bags for 233 locations pan India with a single configuration. It has internationally accepted features such as auto scanning and dimensioning which help us reduce human intervention,” said Abhishek Chakraborty, Executive Director, DTDC Express Limited. 

Falcon and DTDC collaborated closely to introduce a warehouse automation solution, which involved thorough testing and training to ensure a seamless transition to the new system. 

On 20 June 2022, Falcon Autotech unveiled its new headquarters, a Mega Facility spanning over 1,50,000 sq ft. in Greater Noida. Last year in September, the company also entered a strategic technology partnership with Alstef Group, a company specialising in baggage handling solutions and parcel automation integration. 

Under an exclusive distribution agreement, Alstef Group expanded the deployment of Falcon Autotech's Cross-belt sorter range to specific regions. Alstef Group specializes in installing and integrating modular, scalable parcel sortation automation systems. They chose Falcon Autotech as their partner due to their leading technology, which is well-established in the market.
