Narayana Karanam starts new position as CIO at Trident Group
Industry veteran Narayana Karanam has started the new position as chief information officer at Trident Group India. The Ludhiana, Punjab based-Trident Group is a $1 billion Indian conglomerate with a global presence in home textiles, paper and chemicals.
Karanam was earlier heading technology initiatives in the company’s paper division since April and got promoted within three months of his joining the conglomerate. In his new role, he will lead the company’s overall technology and digital transformation initiatives and strategies.
Karanam has over two and a half decades of work experience with a strong record of contributions in managing IT projects delivery, invigorating businesses, heightening productivity, and streamlining systems and procedures while leading and implementing complex programs. He has worked across sectors including agriculture, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food, retail, distribution and public sector companies.
Before this, he was chief information officer at Kenyan sugar processing firm West Kenya Sugar Co. Ltd, where he led various large digital transformation processes. He was earlier associated with Hyderabad-based Keyush Consulting, where he worked as delivery head, and as senior IT head with Netafim Irrigation India. He has also held senior positions at IFS Solutions and UTI Bank.
A commerce graduate with specialisation in accountancy and costing, Karanam has done post-graduation in management from the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad.
Karanam mentioned in his LinkedIn profile that his passion is to “help companies to transform their business digitally” and has expertise in driving cost saving projects, team leadership, high level analysis, implementing change and thereby enhancing the corporate bottom line.
