Birlasoft, Microsoft launch generative AI CoE
Birlasoft has established a centre of excellence (CoE) for generative artificial intelligence, in collaboration with Microsoft. The CoE will facilitate research, training, and collaboration to build solutions for complex business problems.
With the collaboration, Birlasoft will train 500 consultants on generative AI technology and its best practices. The two companies will also work together on 50 use cases across various verticals and sub-verticals.
“We are pleased to see Birlasoft embrace this new technology and establish a Generative AI Centre of Excellence. By using Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service’s models and Azure's scalability, our shared customers will be able to unlock new possibilities and drive greater outcomes,” said Jim Lee, vice president, Americas Global Partner Solutions and Sales, Microsoft.
Birlasoft will be using generative AI and Azure OpenAI Service capabilities in manufacturing, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, energy and utilities, and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI).
"Our long-standing relationship with Microsoft has enabled enterprises to accelerate their digital transformation journey. With the Generative AI Centre of Excellence, we will raise the bar further to deliver enterprise solutions and services. I’m excited and hopeful that together, we will deliver innovative solutions that empower organisations to make informed decisions and stay ahead in a highly competitive landscape,” said Roop Singh, CEO Americas, Birlasoft.
Birlasoft joins companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies, among others to build their generative AI capabilities. For instance, HCLTech launched generative AI centres of excellence along with Google Cloud and Microsoft last month.
Generative AI was a recurring theme during the quarterly results announcements. Infosys, which announced its earnings last week said that it has over 80 active projects in generative AI, and is training 40,000 people. TCS is also training 25,000 engineers on generative AI tools and services. Similarly, Wipro said that it will train all 250,000 employees on AI fundamentals and responsible use of AI over the next 12 months.
