Spotlight: CXO movement this week (July 15-July 21)
The week (July 15-21, 2023) was buzzing with several CXO movements in the tech industry with some of the major appointments in key business positions. IT services firms like Cognizant Technology Services and KPIT Technologies made important new appointments, while national investment facilitation agency India Invest appointed former Intel India head Nivruti Rai as its CEO. Former Intel India head Nivruti Rai joins Invest India as MD and CEO
Former Intel India head Nivruti Rai has joined as the managing director and CEO of Invest India, national investment facilitation agency. Rai has taken over the charge from Manmeet K Nanda, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) who had assumed this additional charge in March 2023. She has joined Invest India after an illustrious 29 years at Intel as a global business and technology leader. She led Intel India as Country Head for the past seven years driving growth and investment of Intel in India and was also vice-president of Intel Foundry Services.
Cognizant appoints Sailaja Josyula, Archana Ramanakumar to key leadership roles
IT services company Cognizant Technology Services (CTS) has appointed Sailaja Josyula and Archana Ramanakumar to key leadership roles in India, with a total of six appointments for women leaders within the company’s global hierarchy. Josyula who worked as global delivery head in Cognizant’s banking and financial services practice has been promoted as SVP, intuitive operations and automation for the BFSI sector for the commercial markets in North America as well as global delivery. Another executive Archana Ramanakumar, has been elevated to SVP, Industry Solutions Group (ISG). In 2020, Ramanakumar departed Cognizant after gaining significant work experience at LTI and LTI Mindtree and returned to Cognizant on July 5. (Read more)
Radhakrishnan Rajagopalan joins Tiger Analytics as head of data engineering and tech practices
Tiger Analytics, a Chennai-based analytics and AI consulting services firm, on Wednesday, appointed Radhakrishnan Rajagopalan as head of data engineering and technology practices. In his new role, Rajagopalan will lead Tiger’s engineering initiatives, driving innovation and development of new-age data and AI powered solutions for enterprise clients. Rajagopalan specialises in large-scale data management, advanced analytics, and application engineering. Prior to joining Tiger, he served as the Senior Vice-President & Global Head of Technology Services, at LTIMindtree. He has also held significant technology leadership positions at Cognizant, PwC and IBM, leading large scale program management, technology delivery, product engineering, competency and leadership development. KPIT Tech elevates Shashwat K Mitra to global head of HR
KPIT Technologies, a technology company specialising in providing product engineering solutions to the automobile and mobility sector, has elevated Shashwat K Mitra to the position of Global Head of Human Resources. An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, Mitra joined KPIT in June 2022 as the head of human resources — India, Asia and Strategic Initiatives. Prior to joining KPIT, Mitra was working as Director — Human Resources at AppDirect, a subscription-based commerce platform. He has also worked at Cummins, Eaton and Mahindra Rise. Mitra also holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.
Partho Banerjee steps down as Hughes India MD
Hughes Communication India Private Ltd (HCIPL) announced that Partho Banerjee, President and Managing Director, has retired as of July 17, 2023. Banerjee has played a key role in driving India’s satellite industry, having joined HCIPL in 1994 and assumed the role of President in 2001. Under his leadership, HCIPL commercialised the first distance education satellite business, its Ku-band services over foreign satellites, and the first flight and maritime licence for satellite services in the country. The company has appointed Shivaji Chatterjee as its new President and Managing Director of HCIPL, succeeding Banerjee and reporting to Ramaswamy.
