TCS to transform GE HealthCare's IT operating model
Tata Consultancy Services has extended its partnership with GE HealthCare, an American multinational medical technology company, to transform its IT operating model.
As part of the initiative, TCS will digitally revamp the global IT functions by introducing a new operating model to manage its applications. This means, TCS will take charge of the development, maintenance, rationalisation, and standardisation of GE HealthCare's enterprise IT applications.
The company said in a statement that it aims to achieve this transformation using advanced software engineering practices, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies. The goal is to realise faster time-to-value, ensure operational resilience, and increase productivity. This transformation is expected to create a platform for GE HealthCare's growth and innovation, potentially benefiting over one billion patients across more than 160 countries.
Jahid Khandaker, CIO of GE HealthCare, stated that the partnership with TCS helps them address patient needs quickly, support medical technology research, and encourage investment in care solutions.
“GE HealthCare is building a scalable, sustainable, and globally unified IT operating model that is focused on digital transformation and innovation to provide precise, connected, and compassionate care,” said Khandaker.
“Our collaboration with TCS helps us deliver on our purpose to create a world where healthcare has no limits by rapidly addressing evolving patient needs, supporting medical technology research, and promoting investment in truly differentiating care solutions,” he said.
Anupam Singhal, Business Head, Corporate Accounts, TCS, said, “We are excited to expand this relationship and leverage our deep contextual knowledge and technological expertise to help GE HealthCare develop innovative new healthcare products and services that aim to enhance patient outcomes while modernising and supporting their existing application estate.”
TCS has been a long-term partner of GE Healthcare. Together, they collaborated on several projects, including the GE Health Cloud launched in 2016. The goal was to support healthcare organisations in enhancing their operations and delivering better patient care. Leveraging TCS's IT services, consulting, and business solutions, they enabled GE Health Cloud customers to successfully adopt and utilise the platform to its fullest potential.
