The week (July 8-14) saw only a handful of CXO movements in the tech industry. Non-tech firms like DealShare, Aster DM Healthcare and Wakefit made important tech appointments this week. Movements also happened in global technology firms such as Google and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Here’s the roundup:

DealShare appoints Saurabh Kishore as CTO

E-commerce platform DealShare announced the appointment of Saurabh Kishore as its new chief technology officer (CTO). In this role, Kishore will spearhead DealShare’s technology initiatives, drive innovation, and contribute to its continued growth and success. Kishore brings over 20 years of experience and has joined DealShare from IBO (Ebo Mart Private Limited), an omnichannel home improvement and home building retail chain based in Bangalore. In the last one decade, he has held senior positions at global and national brands, especially in retail and e-commerce, including Target, IBO and Tata CLiQ, having worked both in India and the US. Yash Dayal quits Zepto to join Wakefit as CTO

Wakefit, a sleep and home solutions company has appointed Yash Dayal as CTO. Dayal stepped down from Zepto, a quick commerce app delivering groceries where he served as head of engineering. He joined the quick commerce company more than a year ago. In his new role as CTO at Wakefit, he will execute the brand’s technology vision and strategy. Prior to joining Zepto, Dayal had worked as the CTO at Zivame, an Indian lingerie company. He has also headed the Android and iOS app development for the online fashion retailer Myntra and Jabong, where he worked as director of engineering for retail and growth. Dayal has also served as principal research engineer at Yahoo! And prior to that, he worked at Info Edge India (naukri.com).  (Read more

Aster DM Healthcare appoints Sreeni Venugopal as India CIO and CISO

Aster DM Healthcare has appointed Sreeni Venugopal as the India Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). In his new role, Venugopal will be in charge of leading the company's technology strategy and overseeing its information security initiatives. Venugopal, formerly the Group CIO at multi-specialty hospital networks, Kimshealth, where he held a prominent position within the executive management team and was responsible for providing technology leadership, shaping the global IT strategy, and overseeing end-to-end IT delivery. Vineet Khosla joins as The Washington Post as chief technology officer 

The Washington Post announced the hiring of Vineet Khosla as Chief Technology Officer. Khosla comes from Uber, where he has been a senior engineering leader since 2018. In this executive leadership role, he will serve as a senior advisor to the CEO and will lead the company’s engineering team and innovation strategy, helping to drive its overall vision for technology goals. Khosla, who will start work in his new role from July 31, has nearly 20 years of experience in the technology industry. He was the first engineering hire for Siri’s natural language engine at Apple and managed the maps routing team at Uber. He has been working with artificial intelligence since 2005 after graduating with his Masters in AI from the University of Georgia.

Google Cloud infrastructure head Urs Holzle resigns, former AWS executive to succeed 

Urs Holzle, senior vice president of technical infrastructure at Google, has stepped down from his role. Holzle joined Google in 1999 as the eighth employee, and held prominent engineering positions in both Google and its cloud division, Google Cloud and reports directly to Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud. In an internal memo, Holzle announced that he is stepping down and transitioning to a reduced role within the company. He will be succeeded by Chris Vonderhaar, who brings 13 years of experience from AWS. Vonderhaar resigned from his position as VP of AWS Data Centre Community in May, where he oversaw the design, planning, construction, and operations of AWS data centres. (Read more)

AWS appoints former Intel executive Raejeanne Skillern global CMO

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed former Intel executive Raejeanne Skillern as the new Vice President and global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). She joined Amazon after Rachel Thornton's departure as CMO in September 2022 since then the post was left vacant. In her new role, Skillern will lead marketing efforts, emphasizing AWS' leadership in cloud computing and promoting its expanding AI platforms. With over 15 years of experience at Intel, she held various roles, including Vice President of Intel's Cloud Service Provider Business, where she oversaw business and product strategies for cloud infrastructure deployments.
