Xebia appoints Guido Bartels as Global Managing Director Cloud

Xebia, a software development company, has appointed Guido Bartels as its new Global Managing Director — Cloud. This strategic move comes as Xebia aims to further strengthen its position in the global market by leveraging the expertise of industry veterans like Bartels. 

In his new role, Bartels will focus on the advancement of Xebia's partnerships with leading cloud providers, taking them to new heights. His responsibilities will include a broad range of cloud services, including multi-cloud consulting, architectural services, cloud cost management, training, and managed services. Xebia envisions Bartels' guidance and expertise playing a pivotal role in helping organisations transition to a cloud-native approach, while also bolstering the company's authority and presence in the global cloud services arena. 

Over the course of 24 years, Bartels has gained extensive experience working in numerous countries. Prior to his tenure at Xebia, he served as the Managing Director for the Nordic and Baltic regions at AWS. Over the course of his nearly four-year tenure in the regional position, he accomplished the successful launch of AWS EMEA's 5th Infrastructure Region in Stockholm and achieved significant growth for AWS's business, with a size increase of over three times.  

Guido has more than two decades of experience at IBM, having held positions such as General Manager for the worldwide Energy & Utilities industry vertical and Managing Director for the Nordic region. During his tenure at IBM, he was a member of the Senior Leadership Team for nine years. Guido's early leadership in sustainability has made him a prominent figure in the field, having served on the boards of both non-profit and publicly listed for-profit organisations. He has also been appointed for two consecutive 2-year terms as a member of the US. Department of Energy (DOE) Electricity Advisory Committee (EAC), following a direct invitation by the US Secretary of Energy.
