Vimeo introduces a suite of AI tools to simplify video creation

Vimeo, a popular video hosting and sharing platform, has announced that it is adding a suite of AI tools to its platform. These tools aim to automate various aspects of the video-editing process, making it easier for users to create engaging content. The suite comprises an AI script generator, a teleprompter, and a text-based video editor.  

According to Vimeo, the platform receives a significant number of daily video uploads, with approximately half of them including speech. By leveraging the capabilities of the new AI video suite, users can create a fully produced video in minutes.   

The company is introducing an AI-powered script generator that will assist users in creating video scripts in just a few seconds. The generator utilises generative AI technology, allowing users to simply input a brief text description and select their desired tone and video length.   

Vimeo has also announced the addition of a teleprompter feature to its platform, aimed at simplifying the video recording process for users. The feature will enable a built-in script display, facilitating the recording of videos with generated scripts. Similar to a professional television studio, the teleprompter can be customised to suit individual preferences, including the speed of the text and the size of the font.    

Lastly, Vimeo has announced a new text-based video editor, aimed at simplifying the editing process for beginners and helping users save time. The platform's latest feature is designed to streamline the video editing experience, making it more accessible to a wider audience.   

This feature will enable users to remove filler words, long pauses, and other unwanted segments from their audio recordings, with just a single click of a button.  

These new capabilities have various applications, such as creating highlight reels efficiently, hosting virtual events or company meetings, exporting quote clips for short marketing videos, or simply improving the quality of a high-profile video before sharing it.

The features will be available from July 17 and will be included in Vimeo's Standard plan, which is the second tier of their paid plans.
