Infosys has launched a new digital Carbon Tracker under its strategic collaboration with men’s tennis governing body ATP. Live from today, the feature is hosted in the ATP PlayerZone app which will allow players to track their carbon emissions while travelling to participate in tournaments across the world during the global tennis session. To be sure, the ATP PlayerZone website and mobile app were launched by Infosys and ATP in 2016.

“Tennis is on a mission to Net Zero and like many sports, our travel footprint is our biggest challenge. ATP’s new Carbon Tracker makes it simple for players to join that journey, mitigating their impact today and inspiring greener choices tomorrow,” said Massimo Calvelli, chief executive officer, ATP.

The tracker features a dashboard that displays players’ travel-related emissions, along with resources and quizzes to educate them on sustainable practices. The Carbon Tracker will award players a ‘Green Badge’ at the end of each season as a symbol of their ‘commitment to reducing the sport’s carbon footprint’. The badge will be displayed across player profiles and rankings pages on  ATPTour.com. Players can declare their travel data on the app and categorise the mode of transport taken for each tournament.

“Together with ATP, we will strive to make tennis carbon conscious as a sport. As we drive towards a hyperconnected economy, it is imperative for us to focus on dynamically driving carbon consciousness in an innovative, sustainable, and efficient manner,” said Sumit Virmani, chief marketing officer, Infosys.

In January, the IT company announced a collaboration with Tennis Australia (TA) to design and develop a platform called Engage. With this platform, TA aims to achieve 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2040. This platform tracks and visualises emission reduction performance along with facilitating the integration of vendor and supplier emissions data.
