Spotlight: CXO movements this week (June 10-16)

The week (June 10-16, 2023) was buzzing with several CXO movements in the tech as well as non-tech sectors with some of the major appointments in key business and technology positions. Tech companies such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) hires a new chief information officer (CIO) and cyber security firm Trellix made new CXO appointments, while non-tech firms like Axis Bank,  Dr Lal PathLabs, Life Insurance Corporation, Punjab National Bank, among others, made important tech appointments to lead their companies’ IT, cyber security and digital affairs.

Dr Lal PathLabs elevates Munender Soperna as CIDO

Munender Soperna has been elevated to the position of CIDO (Chief Information & Digital Officer) at Dr Lal PathLabs, a provider of diagnostic and related healthcare tests. Before this, he was chief information officer (CIO) at the same company. Soperna joined Dr. Lal Path Labs as general manager of information technology in 2007. He has more than with over 22 years of experience in business and technology operations across diverse industries including healthcare-pathology, auto ancillary, power and consultancy and more. Axis Bank appoints Manjunath Kashi as SVP and head IT infrastructure

India's third largest private sector bank Axis Bank appointed Manjunath Kashi as senior vice president (VP) and head of information technology (IT) infrastructure. He joins from National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) where he served as SVP- IT, where he joined in May 2020. Kashi has over three decades of experience in information and specialises in areas such as software-as-a-service (SaaS) engineering, cloud design, cloud automation and orchestration and DevOps, as per his LinkedIn profile. Ashwini Pandey gets promoted to CISO at Punjab National Bank

Ashwini Pandey has been promoted to Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Punjab National Bank. Earlier, he was Deputy General Manager at the same company. He joined the bank in November 2020. Earlier, he was associated with Oriental Bank of Commerce, where he joined as deputy chief manager –IT in June 2011 and was promoted to the rank of chief manager – IT and thereafter as chief information security officer. Pandey has obtained a bachelor of engineering (B.E.) in computer from Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Mithilesh Singh joins as CISO at Life Insurance Corporation

Mithilesh Singh has joined as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). Before this, he was mentor of change at the Atal Innovation Mission. He was earlier associated with Advisory Board Member, S&P Global, IDFC FIRST Bank, Citibank India, Wave Crest Group, Capgemini, Capita, Wipro, i-Sprint Innovations and Dishnet DSL. Singh has experience of over two decades with exposure in BFSI, telecommunications, manufacturing, government and outsourcing industry. A master of computer application from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya he has obtained certifications in cloud computing and blockchain from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Former PepsiCo tech leader Rom Kosla joins HPE as CIO

Former PepsiCo chief information officer (CIO) Rom Kosla is taking over as American technology company Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s next CIO starting in July. Kosla, who has led a number of successful digital transformation initiatives with Fortune 500 companies most recently served as the EVP and CIO of retail business services, the services company of Ahold Delhaize USA. Prior to his tenure at Retail Business Services, Kosla was the senior vice president and CIO of corporate and enterprise solutions at PepsiCo, and has served in a number of roles at Deloitte and Nestle. Trellix appoints industry veteran John Morgan as XDR general manager

US-based cybersecurity company Trellix on Wednesday announced the appointment of cybersecurity leader John Morgan as the general manager of its extended detection and response (XDR) platform. He teams up with Trellix veteran Gareth Maclachlan, Network and Collaboration Security General Manager to strengthen the XDR portfolio. Morgan brings over two-decades of experience in creating high-performing teams and industry-leading cybersecurity products. Prior to joining the company, Morgan served as the chief executive officer of cybersecurity firm Confluera, General Manager of Security at F5, and the vice president of product and ecosystems at MobileIron. Fashion retailer Raymond hires Abhijit Bhalerao as CIO - lifestyle business

Abhijit Bhalerao has been appointed as chief information officer (CIO) - lifestyle business at Raymond, an Indian branded fabric and fashion retailer. Earlier, he was CIO at the Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, a building materials company. He was earlier associated with Force Motors, EY, HCL Technologies, Aegis Global, Raymond Limited, and Siemens. He has close to two-decades of professional and technology consulting expertise leveraging the potential of emerging technologies to consistently deliver business-focused solutions. An expert in design thinking, he has worked with businesses helping them in their digitalization effort by helping them apply design thinking. Bhalerao is a mechanical engineer with masters in computer software and applications, and SAP Certified Solutions Consultant.

Games24x7 promotes Saroj Panigrahi to COO

Games24x7 Private Limited, a gaming company that runs gaming apps RummyCircle and My11Circle, elevated Saroj Panigrahi as chief operating officer (COO). Panigrahi has been an integral part of the Games24x7 team for over 15 years and has held multiple positions within the organisation playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s product strategy.
