Google Meet is currently developing an innovative "On-the-Go" mode to facilitate safe and convenient video calls while on the move. As reported by 9to5Google, the existing mobile interface of Google Meet has been found to be distracting and potentially unsafe for users engaged in video calls while walking.

The upcoming "On-the-Go" mode will provide users with two simple ways to access its features. When Google Meet detects motion using the phone's motion sensors, users will receive a prompt to switch to the travel-friendly mode. In this mode, Meet will deactivate the cameras on your smartphone and halt the streaming of video from other participants. The new UI will offer larger buttons for mute and audio settings.

According to the report, users can transition back to their video call by pressing the large "Turn off On-the-Go" button after completing their walk.

The release date for the feature remains unknown at this time. But the company recently introduced a new viewer mode in its video communication service. This feature enables users to choose "Everyone is a viewer" when creating their Calendar invite.

To minimize potential meeting disruptions, such as audio disturbances, it is recommended to assign attendees as "viewers" when utilizing Google Meet for larger gatherings.
