For instance, in March, IT consultancy form Accenture announced its new center of excellence (CoE) to focus on generative AI and large language models (LLMs). Accenture said that over 1,600 workers from the company will be part of the CoE where they will develop generative AI solutions for enterprises.

IT firms' interest in generative AI is also driven by the need to expand revenue opportunities amid the ongoing economic downturn which has led to a slump in discretionary tech spending by enterprises.

Mint reported last month that due to a slowdown in the banking and financial services sector in the US, the revenue growth for Indian IT firms may drop to mid-single digit in FY24.
