Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) has appointed Randhir Thakur as the chief executive officer and managing director. Thakur joins this new role after leading Intel Foundry Services as its president. He has over 40 years of experience in global manufacturing, research and development, and profit and loss management.

Thakur has worked at organisations like Intel, Applied Materials, SanDisk, and Marvell Semiconductor. He comes with expertise in ecosystem leadership, process technology equipment, driving M&A and joint ventures, and product development, while collaborating closely with ecosystem partners and customers.

Born in Himachal Pradesh, Thakur is an electronics and telecommunications engineer from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. He also has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2013. He holds more than 300 patents in the semiconductor field.
