Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances company Hisense has announced the appointment of Pranab Mohanty as CEO in India.  

Mohanty a seasoned professional with almost three decades of experience in sales and marketing, business development, and general management with profit and loss (P&L) accountability, will be based in Noida. 

As the company is looking to expand its presence in the Indian market, Mohanty will be responsible for leading the growth and development of Hisense India's business in the country. That said, he will be driving the company's strategic initiatives, expanding its customer base, and growing its brand presence in India.

With Mohanty's appointment, Hisense India aims to leverage his expertise and experience to drive the company's strategic initiatives and strengthen its brand presence in the country, the company said in a statement. 

Headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong Province of China, the Hisense Group emerged in 1994 from an uproar started in 1992 by then-president Zhou Houjia and Li Dezhen, director of the Electronic Instrument Bureau of Qingdao, the brand today manufactures  televisions, set-top boxes, digital TV broadcasting equipment, laptops, mobile phones, wireless modules, wireless PC cards and optical components.

Prior to joining Hisense India, Mohanty held leadership positions in prominent companies like Toshiba, Midea, Somotex Ghana and Sales India Pvt. Ltd. Mohanty is an electronics and communication Engineer as well as an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and INSEAD, Singapore and is a sport enthusiast.
