Tech leader Sanjay Karnatak joins Dai-ichi Life Insurance Asia Pacific

Technology leader Sanjay Karnatak has joined Tokyo-based life insurer Dai-ichi Life Insurance Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. as senior general manager (SGM) - digital, IT operations and innovation for the APAC region. In his new role, Karnatak will be responsible for IT strategy and digital transformation and design the digital roadmap of the company going forward. 

Prior to joining DLI, Karnatak was the chief technology and digital officer at Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. Ltd. He has been the head of technology at several high-profile insurance companies before such as Aditya Birla Health Insurance, Tata AIG General Insurance, Idea Cellular Ltd. He has also worked with Bharti Airtel, Wipro, Xensa and PwC. 

With over two decades of experience, Karnatak has managed and motivated teams to strategise, plan and deliver digital and IT for business growth. He has worked across industries such as insurance, telecom and consulting to manufacturing and e-governance. 

Karnatak has done B.Tech in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay, and is an MBA from Institute of Management Technology (IMT)-Ghaziabad. He has also pursued an executive development program in management at Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
