Indian IT services firm Cognizant has teamed up with Microsoft to offer cloud-based healthcare solutions to enable healthcare companies streamline their claims management, improve interoperability and optimise business operations, which in turn can help them deliver better patient and member experiences.

This initiative is part of the two company’s "long-standing collaboration” through which they are now building an integration roadmap between Cognizant’s TriZetto healthcare solutions with Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare that brings together capabilities from Microsoft Azure, Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 for more secure and connected patient experiences.

Tom McGuinness, corporate vice president, Global Healthcare & Life Sciences, Microsoft said in a statement that through this integration with Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare, TriZetto customers can harness the innovative features and capabilities across the entire Microsoft Cloud. “This will enable them to “tap into new revenue streams, and transition their existing services to the cloud,” he said.

The companies will also collaborate to develop and run Cognizant’s current and future healthcare software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions on Microsoft Azure, migrate new and existing clients from on premises environments to streamlined functions managed on the Microsoft Cloud, and support future technologies designed to deliver new insights for payers, providers, and consumers.

Cognizant has earlier collaborated with Microsoft on a variety of healthcare provider and payer solutions, including interoperability and cost estimation suites in a SaaS environment. Like, in November last year, the duo came up with a new Cognizant Sustainability Accelerator, powered by Azure Cloud for Sustainability. The solution combines both Cognizant’s experience in Internet of Things and data analytics with Microsoft’s cloud capabilities.

“This collaborative effort provides greater transparency for consumers who can more readily access historical health care data, review procedure costs for services, and compare pricing across providers to make informed health care decisions,” the companies said in a statement. As Surya Gummadi, executive vice president and president, Cognizant Americas mentioned clients to adapt to shifting market trends, regulatory changes, and operational demands”.
