The Chinese Smartphone maker, realme, has announced the opening of a research and development (R&D) centre in India.

The company said that its Indian branch would focus on gathering and coordinating customer input, while the Institute will focus on launching major technology advances. The goal is to make sure that realme's products can compete successfully in the Indian market. 

The purpose of establishing a branch in India is to better understand the future of the Indian consumer culture and tailor their product offerings to the local market, the company said.

Realme claims that by coordinating research and development efforts throughout the world, the company can accelerate the development of technologies like its 240W rapid charging technology.  

Madhav Sheth - CEO realme India, VP, realme and President, realme International Business Group said, “We are excited to share the establishment of the realme Global Institute of Leap-forward Technology which will be the foundation of bringing groundbreaking technology to users. We are taking a significant step towards creating a research framework that will enable us to stay ahead of the curve and create cutting-edge solutions that meet the needs of the market.” 

Six categories, including charging, photography, display, gaming, chipset, and industrial design, will be the focus of the institute's efforts to drive innovation. The centre will collaborate with industrial labs and other external partners in addition to developing its own internal staff. It will boost the effectiveness of research and development and marketing efforts, and increase user demand.

As the Mobile World Congress 2023 is scheduled for February 27 to March 2, the company is all set to unveil its realme GT3 smartphone, which features the industry's fastest charging technology (240W). 

The 240W rapid charging technology is developed by the realme's Global Institute of Leap-forward Technology by pooling R&D efforts from throughout the world.
