Garuda Aerospace partners with Narayana Health to transport medical supplies
Drone technology company Garuda Aerospace has joined hands with Narayana Health to transport biomedical samples using ‘Sanjeevani’ drones. The new fleet of drones will deliver critical and emergency medical supplies including samples for diagnosis in times of high traffic and other challenging conditions. The partnership also seeks to serve remote and underserved areas to ensure patients receive timely treatment and diagnosis.
“Our aim is to improve access to critical medical supplies and support the delivery of high-quality healthcare to patients in need and in times of emergency,” said Agnishwar Jayaprakash, founder and chief executive officer, Garuda Aerospace.
In the first phase of this initiative, the drones will be deployed in Bengaluru to transfer bio-medical samples from Narayana Health City and HSR Layout areas of the city on a daily basis. In the next one year, all 21 hospitals in the Narayana Health network will have these services.
“The use of drones to transport biomedical samples is a critical step in achieving that goal. By partnering with Garuda Aerospace, we are able to leverage their expertise to improve the delivery of medical supplies and enhance the quality of care we provide across,” said Dr Devi Shetty, chairman and executive director, Narayana Health.
In the past, Garuda Aerospace partnered with Swiggy and ISRO to deliver medicine and other critical medical aid to hospitals using emergency during the pandemic. This week, the company raised $22 million in funding in a Series A round. Currently, Garuda has 400 drones and over 500 pilots in 26 Indian cities. With the fresh funds, Garuda aims to sell 25,000 drones in 18 months and export 10,000 drones in 100 countries in 15 months.
