Samsung to offer AI, IoT skill training in 30 districts of Karnataka
Samsung has partnered with the Karnataka government to offer skill training in artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT) to more than a thousand students and teachers in the state. This collaboration between Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) and the department of collegiate and technical education (Karnataka government) will benefit 37 polytechnic colleges in 30 districts of the state.
Carried out under the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) initiative, students and teachers will be provided with adequate facilities, kits, and equipment for skilling in these emerging technologies. The candidates will be trained as per the SIC module to develop industry-capable skills. A multidisciplinary approach will be adopted where students will be exposed to practical problems in the field of agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, water, and energy management, a company statement said.
“We truly concur with government’s focus on “Make AI for India' but also 'Make AI work for India' and our goal is to empower the future of the country with leading IoT and AI knowledge and skills and create limitless opportunities for them in the fast-growing technology sector,” said Balajee Sowrirajan, managing director, SSIR.
Participating candidates will undergo assessment during and after completion of the course. At the final stage, they will have to prepare a project and successful candidates will be given completion certificates.
“The launch of the “Samsung Innovation Campus” program levels the playing field, providing equal access to the latest technology and real-world knowledge. Through this partnership, our aim is to unleash the transformative power of digitalization, empowering students from remote areas with opportunities of the future and equip them with the right technology skills needed for success,” said CN Ashwath Narayan, minister of skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood of Karnataka.
