Atal Innovation Mission, along with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Intel launched a curated lesson plan for integrating AI into the school curriculum. It is a compendium of 70 best lesson plans created by teachers of participating schools under the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) Integration in School Curriculum program launched in September 2022. This plan is expected to offer a “360-degree view” of AIoT integration to enhance learning in a classroom. At the launch, students also presented their AI and AIoT-based social impact projects built under the guidance of their teachers.

The AIoT Integration in Curriculum program aims to offer appropriate skillsets and tools to teachers and schools to include AI and Tinkering.

“I hope that this compendium of AIoT integrated lesson plans created by educators is taken up by teachers across the country, to explore AIoT exemplar lesson plans and implement them in the classrooms, with the utmost sense of urgency,” said Chintan Vaishnav, Mission director, Atal Innovation Mission.

“Integrating AI and Tinkering with lesson plans and making them part of the everyday teaching-learning activities can help enable the students to imbibe the digital-first mindset. We hope this compendium will empower teachers to guide their students and help build a truly future-ready generation,” said Biswajit Saha, Director (Trainings & Skill Education), CBSE.

The national education policy 2020 has outlined the need for preparing students to work with emerging technologies. As part of this, several programs have been introduced by the Niti Aayog in the past, including the establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs and the introduction of AI in the school curriculum.
