Protean to hire and train 100 engineering graduates in India
Protean eGov Technologies Limited (an IT-enable service provider company, previously called NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited) will be hiring and training about 100 engineering graduates across the country under its ‘FutureFIT–Tech Engineers Program’ (launched this week). For this, Protean will be partnering with technology training institutes and colleges in India to impart job-specific skills to students.
Engineering graduates who graduated in the year 2021-22 with a background in computer science, information technology, or electronics and communication engineering are eligible to apply for the program. The applicant should have scored a minimum of 60% in their course. The selection process will include a three-step online evaluation process with an online test, a technical interview, and a final HR interview. Post this, students will go through formal onboarding to a two-month boot camp where they will be trained on the latest technologies.
Protean has been collaborating with the Indian government for the last 25 years over several digital public infrastructure and citizen centric e-governance solutions. Some of such projects include the National Pension System & Atal Pension Yojna, issuance of PAN card, and other Aadhaar-based identity authentication and e-Sign services.
“In today’s world, organisations are fast adopting advanced & emerging technologies to stay competitive and ahead of the curve. Given the increasing impact of new-age technologies on business and everyday life, we plan to hire and train ‘Change Engineers’ who are passionate about technology and have the desire to make an impact and contribute to society. The FutureFIT–Tech Engineers Program is a step in realizing our vision to create strong e-governance interventions by using common foundational digital building blocks and leveraging open source technology,” said Protean eGov Technologies managing director and chief executive officer, Suresh Sethi.
Every year, about 15 lakh engineers graduate in India but only 3% of them land up quality tech jobs (with salaries upwards of ₹8 lakh per annum), a 2020 study by edtech company Scaler Academy revealed. Most of them are from tier-1 colleges – which points to a lack of good opportunities at tier-2 and -3 colleges.
