Microsoft, Tech Mahindra partner to enable 5G core network modernisation for telecom operators
Microsoft and Tech Mahindra have joined hands to provide cloud-powered 5G core network modernisation for telecom operators globally. Through this collaboration, telecom operators will be able to develop 5G core use cases and meet growing customers’ requirements in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), edge computing, and the internet of things (IoT).
This partnership is in line with Tech Mahindra’s NXT.NOWTM framework to enhance human-centric experience. In this framework, Tech Mahindra focuses on investing in emerging technologies and solutions for digital transformation and meeting the evolving needs of the customer.
Tech Mahindra will provide its talent expertise, comprehensive solutions, and managed services through offerings like network as a service and AIOps (artificial intelligence for IT operations) offers for 5G core networks. The AIOps offering will enable operators to leverage the cloud to deliver innovative services to their customers, in faster and easier manner. AIOps will also help in combining big data and machine learning for the automation of network operations processes like event correlation, anomaly detection, predicting fault and performance issues, and enabling self-serving network operations.
For sustainability solutions, Tech Mahindra will leverage Microsoft Cloud’s iSustain solution which will measure and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) in environmental, social, and corporate governance aspects. Operators will be able to use iSustain to measure and reduce carbon emissions from the networks and meet the energy demands of deploying digital technologies like AR/VR and IoT.
On the security side, Tech Mahindra will leverage SenTindra, a cloud-based virtual security operations centres developed on Microsoft Sentinel. The SenTindra platform currently offers over 300 scenarios and workflows for Telecom operators' cloud visibility, monitoring, and orchestration requirements.
“Our collaboration with Microsoft will further strengthen our service portfolio by combining our deep expertise across the telecom industry with Microsoft Cloud. Further to this collaboration, Tech Mahindra and Microsoft will work together to help telecom operators simplify and transform their operations in order to build green and secure networks by leveraging the power of cloud technologies,” said CP Gurnani, managing director and chief executive officer at Tech Mahindra.
Adding to this, Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India said, “Harnessing the power of Microsoft Azure, telecom operators can provide more flexibility and scalability, save infrastructure cost, use AI to automate operations, and differentiate their customer offerings. The collaboration between Tech Mahindra and Microsoft will help our customers build green and secured networks with seamless experiences across the Microsoft cloud and the operator’s network.”
