Twitter to soon have tweet view count feature
Twitter users will now be able to see that how their tweet is performing as the platform will soon launch view count feature similar to videos.
New Twitter owner Elon Musk has announced that in the coming weeks, tweets will be accompanied by view count. It will allow users to see how many people have seen and engaged with their tweets. This feature is similar to view counts on videos. Replying to this tweet, former Twitter chief Jack Dorsey said that this would be a much better metric.
It is similar to the already existing tweet impression count which gives complete tweet analytics information. Tweet impressions are available through the graph icon displayed with the tweet while the new feature will allow users to view the count directly. Twitter first started testing the view count feature in September, this year, making it available to just a handful of users.
Musk further tweeted that the social media platform is also working on a software update to show users their account status. This information will be useful in determining if an account has been ‘shadowbanned, the reason why, and how to appeal’ against the same. Also called stealth banning, shadow banning blocks a user’s content (fully or partially) in a way that the user may not be aware of it.
He also said that 1.5 billion defunct accounts, on the other, will also be removed. These accounts are the ones with ‘no tweets and no log-in for years'.
In a separate update, Twitter told its advertisers in an email on December 8 that it would be rolling out new controls to lure companies back to the platform, from next week. These new controls will allow companies to prevent their ads from appearing with tweets that contain specific keywords, a Reuters report revealed.
