After deploying Airtel 5G Plus services at the new terminals in Bengaluru, Pune and Varanasi airports, telecom giant, Bharti Airtel has now launched the 5G service at Nagpur's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

Starting October this year, the telco has gone live with Airtel 5G Plus which is expected to offer about 30X faster data speeds compared to what you are currently experiencing as well as high quality voice experience and super-fast call connect.

Nagpur is one of the first 8 cities in the country to get the Airtel 5G Plus service, others being Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, Panipat, Gurugram and Guwahati. This means that residents of these cities can start to enjoy the 5G experience on their smartphones in a phased manner, provided their handset supports it.

The services at Nagpur are currently available at Ganesh Path, Nehru Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, CA road and few other locations. Airtel is augmenting its network further to make its services available across the city in due course of time.

"Customers flying in and out of the Orange City can enjoy high speed Airtel 5G Plus across the airport terminal. Passengers can enjoy blazing speeds on their mobile phones while they are at the arrival and departure terminals, lounges, boarding gates, migration and immigration counters, security areas, baggage claim belts, parking area etc.," the company said in a statement.

All customers with 5G smart phones will enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus on their existing data plans. There is no need to change the SIM as the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled.

Reliance Jio has rolled out its 5G services touted True-5G network covering major parts of the Delhi-NCR region, belt, which includes New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.  The 5G network would cover all significant localities and places including homes, hospitals, schools, colleges, and universities, as well as heavy foot traffic areas like tourist attractions, hotels, and roadways, as well as highways and metros, the company said.

On a trial basis, the telco is presently offering its 5G services in seven cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Varanasi.

On October 1, India’s major telcos Reliance Jio and Airtel kickstarted a limited rollout of 5G services after the ₹1.5 lakh crore spectrum auction in August.

A report by KPMG states that a 10% increase in mobile adoption increases the GDP by 0.5%. And, with 5G expected to bridge the connectivity gap by offering high-speed broadband in rural areas, the report states that 5G could drive the next wave of growth in the country.
