Google Cloud has teamed up with Data Security Council of India (DSCI) to launch a new initiative - ‘secure with cloud’ to help government and public sector professionals to deploy cloud, have a greater understanding of cloud security and realise the benefits of cloud to their organisations.

The Data Security Council of India is a non-profit industry body for data protection and cybersecurity set up by the country’s IT trade body Nasscom.
Secure with Cloud is a “thought leadership program” aimed at engaging with public secretary entities across various verticals to help them understand how cloud platforms and cloud-enabled products are created and to advocate for their security.

According to Google Cloud, the initiative aims to “capture the voice” of chief information (CIOs) and information security officers (CISOs) of central and state IT secretaries to encourage them to migrate their systems to the cloud.

It also aims to create a platform that will understand key drivers, challenges with cloud adoption and develop evidence-based deliberations and case studies to drive cloud adoption and derive actionable insights and also improve collaboration between various stakeholders including the government, regulators and cloud service providers.

“This will create the much-needed space for enabling security led deliberations and serve as a platform to host successful cloud adoption journeys for embracing cloud transformation,” Vinayak Godse, CEO, Data Security Council of India, said.

He added, “We are looking at this initiative as an industry driven intervention which will bring together the stakeholders from across the cloud ecosystem and bolster the agenda of security in the cloud paradigm by promoting adoption of best practices.”

“At Google Cloud we are committed to helping our customers navigate securely as they embark on their cloud journeys. The initiative with DSCI is one step towards unraveling the power and flexibility of the cloud and its many benefits to enterprises of all sizes,” said Mark Johnston, security leader, office of the CISO at Google Cloud.

In October this year, Google Cloud got a nod to partner with India’s public sector organisations to help them deploy cloud through announced its empanelment by the Ministry of Electronics and information Technology (MeitY).

Google’s rivals such as Microsoft, IBM, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Oracle, among others, have already received approval from MeitY to partner and work on various digital transformation projects.
