Instagram facing glitches in India amid continued issues worldwide
Meta-owned social media platform, Instagram, is reportedly facing issues on its app and desktop versions. According to user reports verified by TechCircle, the Instagram feed on its iOS and Android apps are failing to load, with users being prompted a ‘failed to reload due to no network connectivity message’. For some others, the app would crash upon being opened.
A rising frequency for this issue has been spotted on popular public tech services downtime tracker, Down Detector. According to the tracker’s information of Instagram, the service has been witnessing user reports on glitches since the past 24 hours. User complaints, which were largely based on being unable to login to the service, peaked at around 6PM on Sunday, October 30 in India — before appearing to have been resolved.
However, a high volume of these reports have yet again surfaced early on Monday, with a large number of reports coming around the service’s downtime in India at around 10AM on Monday.
Instagram has not offered a statement or an explanation for what the issue has been. However, the issues come off the back of continued glitches with Meta services around the world, which saw Instagram and Facebook receive outage reports from users around the world — including the USA, UK, Europe and the rest of the world as well.
After reports about the worldwide glitches, a report by The Verge cited Meta spokesperson Monika Wik to state that the issues with Instagram and Facebook occurred due to a “configuration change” in the platforms’ infrastructure — which were seemingly resolved by early Saturday, October 29.
Some issues, however, seem to have persisted.
Fellow Meta service WhatsApp was also at the centre of an hours-long outage in India on Tuesday, October 25. Among other factors, the outage highlighted the impact that services such as WhatsApp and Instagram, and their downtimes, have begun to affect small businesses that are increasingly reliant on these platforms to reach out to their consumers.
