Gurugram-based engineering and contract manufacturing firm, VVDN Technologies, has entered a partnership with Google Cloud to set up a joint centre of excellence (CoE) to work in the areas of internet of things (IoT), video cloud, and enterprise private 5G Cloud.

Google Cloud is a suite of public cloud computing services offered by Google and includes a range of hosted services for compute, storage and application development that run on Google hardware.

“The partnership will enable us to scale our customers with the help of Google Cloud’s infrastructure,” said Vivek Bansal, President Engineering, VVDN Technologies. He informed that the “joint CoE will allow the company to innovate and build advanced solutions for IoT, video, and 5G cloud platforms which are in demand”.

In other words, customers will be able to create hybrid applications with more secure access to Google Cloud services like BigQuery and Cloud Operations, and extend their existing disaster recovery, backup, and storage services.

In the IoT and Video Cloud space, VVDN said that it is developing a software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based device agnostic IoT cloud solution with Google Cloud for onboarding smart devices, cameras, and more. “The solution is based on a scalable and secure architecture that can be delivered for multiple applications and serve a variety of use cases,” the company said in a statement.

As part of a wider 5G strategy, VVDN is further aiming to become an end-to-end enterprise private 5G provider with Google Cloud, offering end-to-end service orchestration, network function virtualisation (NFV) optimisation, network performance testing, automation framework development, and application development, to name a few.

In October 12, VVDN signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US chipmaker Intel to manufacture enterprise grade products for companies in India. According to a statement by Intel, “the manufacturing MoU with VVDN will cater to data centres and telecom infrastructure, and would be used by enterprises to deploy 5G and cloud services”.

Meanwhile, Google Cloud announced its empanelment by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This empanelment, also referred to as the MeitY accreditation, will enable the public sector organisations including government agencies at the centre and state levels, and public sector units (PSUs) in sectors such as power, banking financial services and insurance (BFSI), transportation, oil and gas, public finance, and others, to deploy on Google Cloud.

The objective is to become an active partner in India’s digital transformation initiatives, especially Project Meghraj that aims at making a multi-level, national cloud-sharing foundation giving affordable, secure, and safe data storage for everyone.
