Google announces virtual bootcamp for agritech startups in India

Google is organizing a week-long virtual bootcamp for agritech startups in India and has invited startups that are using artificial intelligence (AI) based solutions for farm productivity and sustainable agriculture.  

The bootcamp will start in November and 15 agritech startups will be shortlisted and mentored by experts from the agritech industry and Google. The mentors will assist these startups on how they can leverage technology, improve design, market their products and grow their business. Startups can also interact with product teams at Google Research, Google Cloud, and Android and get answers to their tech-related questions. 

The bootcamp will also provide closed-room networking opportunities for the startup founders where they can discuss their challenges freely with the mentors. 

Google said that the bootcamp will focus on startups that have raised some funding and are making products for India and have the potential to scale globally. 

Bootcamps are very common in the coding industry. Their duration is often short and the training programs are much more intense. 

The search engine giant has conducted several startup accelerator programs in India. In June, it announced an accelerator program for women-led startups in India. The company has also worked with agritech startups during its previous startup accelerator programs. Big tech companies have taken a lead role in running startup accelerators. Last October, Microsoft launched an AI program called AI Innovate to help Indian startups deploy AI at scale.
