TCS unveils cloud services suite for carmakers
Tata Consultancy Services on Wednesday unveiled Mobility Cloud Suite — a platform of cloud tools and services designed for the automotive sector. The suite offers a host of cloud tools for automotive companies to test and design products for vehicles, which it says is cloud platform agnostic.
TCS said that its Mobility Cloud Suite can be used for testing product development, building autonomous factories, and also develop customer experiences for the automotive sector. Citing a use case, TCS said that its Mobility Cloud Suite can make it "easier and faster to test and validate the reliability of autonomous vehicles to aid resource intensive stress testing."
TCS' suite comes as market reports project automotive cloud tools and services to grow in the coming years. An August 4 report by Mumbai-based market research firm Straits Research pegged the global automotive cloud services market to be worth $16.5 billion in 2021 — which can reach over $65 billion by 2030. The industry could grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.8% through this period, which tools such as TCS' Mobility Cloud Suite can help grow.
Alongside connected services, markets such as India have witnessed a steady growth in electric mobility services. These services have included battery sharing and swapping services, which mobility companies are increasingly working on. For instance, Honda announced a subsidiary to build battery sharing services in the country, to help small mobility ventures access a battery swapping framework.
Technologies such as digital twins are also tipped to help sectors such as autonomous mobility. Services such as Nvidia and Dassault Systemes offers virtual reality tools to simulate automobile tests, which global automobile companies are increasingly using. Tools such as TCS' Mobility Cloud Suite also seek to capture a share of connected services in the industry.
