Apple is launching the iPhone 14 series on September 7 at an in-person event at the company’s Cupertino campus. The company has sent out media invites for an Apple event with the tagline ‘Far Out’ at the Steve Jobs theater. The tagline can be a teaser for the improved telephoto lenses in the upcoming iPhones. Apple is also expected to update its Watch Series lineup at the event.

This will be Apple’s first in-person event after the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, which forced all tech companies to shift to virtual launches. The WWDC 2022 was held virtually in June, but a limited number of developers were allowed to join in-person.

Most of the recent events by other companies including the recently concluded Samsung Galaxy Unpacked where the South Korean company launched new foldable smartphones were also held virtually.

Blomberg reported last week said that the new iPhones will be launched a week earlier than last year. An early launch would allow Apple to take advantage of festive season shopping.

Apple is expected to launch four new iPhones this year. Most industry experts including Ming-Chi Kuo believe that the small screen (5.4-inch) iPhone Mini is likely to be left out of the new series and will be replaced by a big screen (6.7-inch) iPhone 14 Max. It will be a low-cost alternative to the other big-screen iPhone 14 Pro Max.

According to Kuo, the iPhone 14 Pro series will use a new Bionic A16 chipset while the iPhone 14 series will use last year’s A15 chipset. Some of the design leaks of the new iPhones have also hinted at two separate and smaller cutouts in the iPhone 14 Pro series. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 series will retain last year’s notch design.

Apple is also planning to manufacture the iPhone 14 in India and may start it within two months after its release in China to reduce dependence on China, according to a Bloomberg report.

The Watch Series 8 is expected to launch in three variants. It is likely to keep the design of the Watch Series 7 but will have some new features such as the body temperature sensor, which has become very popular during the pandemic.
