Quick Heal teams up with Indore City Police to spread cybercrime awareness
Quick Heal Foundation, the CSR arm of Quick Heal Technologies, has collaborated with Indore City Police and the Cyber cell team to raise awareness about online safety. It has launched a series of street plays under its signature initiative 'Cyber Shiksha for Cyber Suraksha,' across the city.
The 12-day-long event, inaugurated by Police Commissioner H. N. Mishr, on Tuesday, will see the team performing 112 street plays in various parts of the city. The foundation has chosen street play as the medium as it can present a severe issue in a very intriguing way. It helps in garnering the attention of the maximum number of people.
Through these street plays, Quick Heal aims to spread awareness about online safety. The shows will also project how citizens can approach the cyber cell with their cybercrime concerns, it said in a statement.
One of the popular event organisers, Yog Events, from the cine industry will be supporting the foundation in conducting the plays.
"As the world is moving online, the rate of cybercrimes is also ramping up. It's especially prevalent in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, where most citizens use smartphones for financial transactions, socializing, and communications. However, we have observed that many users are still unaware of the basic etiquette required for online surfing. Thus, revealing personal or financial information for cybercriminals to exploit,” said Anupama Katkar, Chairperson, Quick Heal Foundation.
Through initiatives like 'Cyber Shiksha for Cyber Suraksha,' the foundation aims at shedding light on various fraudulent scams like phishing, cyber extortion, data breach, identity theft, and harassment. It will also project how cybercrime incidents cause massive financial losses and mental trauma to thousands of innocent citizens. This initiative would help internet users’ practice safe surfing.
In December last year, the foundation along with Maharashtra Police and Cyber cell created a similar initiative to spread cyber security awareness through street plays in Thane.
