CESL floats tender to buy 5,580 electric buses
Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), has opened a tender for 5,580 electric buses in five cities — Delhi, Kolkata, Surat, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The fleet will include 5,450 single-decker buses and 130 double-decker buses, the company said in a statement, adding that the first lot is expected to hit the roads by July.
The tenders, which are valued at Rs 5,500 crore, could be under the ambit of ‘Grand Challenge’ scheme.
“The Grand Challenge will encourage the faster transition to green mobility across the country while creating a synergy between private operators and state governments," said Mahua Acharya, MD of CESL.
