Bengaluru-based midsized healthcare IT services provider CitiusTech has appointed former Cognizant veteran Bhaskar Sambasivan as its chief executive officer (CEO). 

Sambasivan joined CitiusTech as its president on May 2021 and was working with the company’s former CEO Rizwan Koita as part of the transitional procedure. He will start on his new role from November 1. 

Sambasivan spent close to 15 years at Cognizant as the global head of life sciences between 2004 and 2019.

In his recent role before CitiusTech, he served as the president of Patient Services and as the chief strategy officer for Lifesciences solutions company Eversana. 

In the early days of his career, he worked with Siebel/Oracle and PricewaterhouseCoopers in leadership roles. 

“I am really excited to lead the organization and work with our clients and partners to build innovative business and technology solutions that address key challenges and priorities across the healthcare ecosystem,” said Sambasivan about his new role.

The new CEO is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, and is well known for establishing the European Life Sciences business for Cognizant between 2009 and 2012. 

“As co-founder of CitiusTech, it has been a privilege to lead the organization and see it scale to over 5,400 healthcare technology professionals serving over 120 healthcare organizations,” said co-founder and outgoing CEO, Rizwan Koita. 

Citius Tech was co-founded in 2005 by Koita and current COO Jagdish Moorjani, who will also step down from his role.

The new COO has not been announced by CitiusTech.  

The company has clocked annualized revenue of $300 million till date. 4,500 of its 5,400 employees work out of India. 

Koita and Moorjani are expected to continue as shareholders in the company and will sit as part of the board.

The company said that the co-founders will commit more time towards not-for-profit and social impact initiatives.
