Zomato unveils limited edition ‘Pro Plus’ subscription
Mere days after going public, food-tech giant Zomato has launched a new limited-edition subscription for customers -- Zomato Pro Plus.
Available exclusively to a select set of users through an invitation, the offering is Zomato’s version of Amazon Prime membership. It brings all the benefits of a regular Pro subscription, including up to 40% off on dining bills, with added elements such as unlimited free deliveries on all orders.
In a recent tweet, Deepinder Goyal, the founder and CEO of the company, said, customers taking Pro Plus subscription will not have to pay extra distance or surge charges, even during rains or rush hours.
Plus, there will be exclusive deals at more than 25,000 restaurants across the country.
The move comes as part of an effort to increase revenue from Pro membership, which already has about 1.8 million takers in 41 Indian cities.
Zomato is charging existing Pro members Rs 100 to upgrade to Pro Plus. Meanwhile, customers holding Zomato Edition Black credit card will automatically be upgraded to Pro Plus.
Goyal also clarified that the cost of this offering will be entirely borne by Zomato so deliver partners won’t lose their earnings. The company has not said when the offering would be expanded to all Pro subscribers. However, customers can check if they have been invited through the Pro section of the Zomato app.
Last month, the Info Edge-backed company listed on the bourses at Rs 116, a 53% premium over the offer price of Rs. 76, in India's biggest IPO. It also recently launched an initiative to onboard more women partners on to its platform.
