Flipkart’s Shopsy announces zero commission marketplace for sellers
Flipkart’s latest offering Shopsy has announced the launch of a zero-commission marketplace for sellers.
Through the initiative, Bengaluru-based Flipkart will help bring smaller sellers across fashion, grocery and home categories, online.
The waiver will further enable and amplify the supply of products and catalogues on the platform, and spur e-commerce growth across tier 2 cities and towns that have been untouched by digital retail so far, according to a statement.
According to Flipkart, 70% customers come from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. With Shopsy, the Walmart-backed company aims to scale this to 90%. It believes gamification along with social commerce features will help it achieve this mission. One such feature is Shop & Earn, where users will be able to unlock higher incentives on achieving a certain weekly/monthly target.
“Our vision with Shopsy is to enable digital commerce for everyone across India. We have received an overwhelming response and are further looking to enable several initiatives on the platform to accelerate growth. Shopsy is growing 100% week on week,” Prakash Sikaria, Senior Vice President - Growth and Monetisation, Flipkart, said.
Shopsy claims to have onboarded more than 2 lakh users within a month of its launch. With the onset of the festive season, the platform aims to keep accelerating its growth over the next two months by ramping up features and offerings.
Shopsy users can share catalogues of 15 crore products offered by Flipkart sellers over social media and communication apps.
Shopsy competes with the likes of highly funded social commerce platforms Meesho, DealShare among others.
