Mumbai based information technology (IT) services company L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has signed a collaboration agreement with UK’s Coventry University to build and deliver new generation engineering solutions for the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

Under the partnership, LTTS and Coventry University will work together on developing technologies and deepening skillsets in autonomous driving, electric vehicles (EVs) and software defined vehicles, according to a statement.

Research will be undertaken in autonomous mobility solutions and vehicle dynamics that can help LTTS strengthen technology capabilities for its global customers. In addition, the university will offer LTTS engineers a platform to advance their knowledge in automotive and manufacturing technologies and sustainability.

The University’s contribution is being led by the IFTC which conducts research in transport design, electric, connected and autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity and manufacturing technologies, the statement added.

“IFTC-LTTS alliance aims to fast track the new-age mobility solutions for the transportation industry across the globe, including aspects of safety and comfort that can benefit millions of commuters,” Abhishek Sinha, chief operating officer and member of the board, L&T Technology Services, said.

Last week, L&T Technology Services and chipmaker Intel announced a collaboration to develop an AI-based parking guidance system aiming to help drivers locate parking spaces nearby. The solution has been built using the neural network platform OpenVINO (Open Visual Inference and Neural network Optimization) toolkit on Xeon processors, which are proprietary Intel products.

In February, the pure-play engineering services arm was selected by Airbus to provide technology and digital engineering solutions for the aircraft maker’s Skywise platform. Under the collaboration, LTTS supports the Airbus airlines in the development of complex workflows, creation of new interfaces between existing information systems and Skywise, and also provide assistance in their digital transformation with Skywise.

LTTS has also been selected recently to provide engineering services for American automotive components original equipment manufacturer Tenneco’s arm DRiV, a business unit for ride performance and motorparts.
