Network18 signs on Grabyo for cloud-based video production, distribution solutions
Reliance Industries-owned Network18 Group has signed on London-based Grabyo to improve its news coverage on digital channels.
Under the engagement, a statement said, the media conglomerate is using Grabyo’s cloud-based live video production suite to collaborate on, edit, and distribute high-definition video content on various social and digital platforms at the same time.
Grabyo’s cloud-based platform doesn’t require extensive hardware and can be used directly on a web browser. This has enabled Network18’s team to edit and share broadcast feed clips from any part of the world, allowing them to go fully remote during the pandemic -- without affecting the company’s digital strategy.
Network18 claims to reach more than 100 million digital viewers every month. Meanwhile, the Indian market has over 400 million social media users.
The cloud video platform has streamlined Network18’s video workflows and is also increasing its speed-to-market, helping the company scale its entire production and distribution effort and further grow its digital presence, the statement added.
"We are always looking to innovate and adopt exciting solutions to gain efficiency in our workflows and are excited about partnering with Grabyo and growing the potential of our digital and social channels," Rajesh Sharma, vice president for technology and operations at Network18, said.
"Our mission is to provide a diverse range of media services to consumers and using Grabyo solution, we have been able to roll out an efficient, robust and scalable news offering across social media. Their approach to strengthen their cloud platform aligns with ours as we expand our digital presence and deliver the very best quality content to digital audiences everywhere,” he said.
Network18 Group runs more than 70 television channels in India and abroad, including some in partnership with global media players such as Viacom, CNBC, CNN, A+E Networks and Forbes. The company’s TV channels attract over 700 million viewers per month.
Commenting on the collaboration, Elliot Renton, executive vice president and head of Asia Pacific at Grabyo, said, "It's a transformative time for media services in India and Network18 continues to expand and optimize its approach to audiences consuming content on multiple platforms. With the growth of full-scale simultaneous online streaming by television stations and the rapid increase in live production and online distribution of video content in India, we are excited to deliver the benefits of our cloud technology to Network 18."
