With 11 additions, Rapido Auto now available in 25 cities

Bike and taxi aggregator Rapido on Thursday announced that it has extended its auto rickshaw hailing service to 11 cities across five states, bringing the total number of cities it operates in to 25.  

The service is now available in Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Gujarat, UP, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. 

Earlier in October Rapido Auto entered 14 key cities across 10 states. 

Rapido Auto will be part of the shared mobility business model. It has plans to onboard more than half a million autos in the next six months and interested auto drivers can self-onboard themselves by downloading Rapido Captain App or calling the Rapido helpline number.

The autos will be powered by its GPS technology ensuring access to continuous demand from customers around them. Users will be able to track and share their ride in real-time, with their loved ones. Rapido Auto, like Rapido Bike Taxi service, will have an in-app feedback mechanism to allow for and ensure a safe and consistent experience for commuters.

“We are witnessing a rapid demand and adoption of open and safe commute option in comparison to over-crowded public transport and expensive cabs. Autos have emerged as a preferred way of commuting post the COVID-19 pandemic after bike taxis,” Aravind Sanka, co-founder, Rapido, said in a statement.

The rides will be available at the meter price with an additional minimal convenience fee.

Rapido recently announced several initiatives towards maintaining safety and following guidelines to protect the customer and the Captain, including the innovative Safety back shields for bike taxi rides. For the Auto services, the captains will be expected to sanitize and clean the seats and all customer accessible areas, post every ride, along with mandatory usage of masks during the entire ride by the Captains and the passengers.
